Hi MinimalAudio-Team,
first things first: I’m a fan of your products, have all of them, love all of them.
The following findings are not Current exclusive - all of your plugins handle their user preset locations the same. Anyways i’m talking about Current 2 here, since i try to sync my Current user presets between Studio Win-PC and Macbook:
Why is it possible to relocate the factory lib folder but not the user presets folder?
Backing up and/or syncing of user presets between two machines is a use case
Factory lib content can be pulled from your cloud anyways, so why?
WIN: Putting user presets inside c:\AppData\… is questionable because:
Its a win system folder, hidden by default, has special write restrictions by default and is excluded by many backup and syncing tools
Its outside the win machines login-user scope
Consider to take inspiration from Steve:
All Presets - factory and user ones - belong to the login-user, these are my documents, so lets put them right there
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\Minimal\…
This is user transparent, backupable, syncable
Since Arturia handles their windows preset locations as you do, it seems like you’re using the same VST- and/or WIN-Installer-Framework - or the same default behaviour concering preset locations.
Please consider changing this. User presets are no system critical configuration files. There is no need to burry them in inaccessible windows system folder structures. They are user documents…
Thanks,
